Hmm.. does the cloned machine have anything in its event log? Or the server? 
(other than the "denied" message, or whatever :) )

When are you running sysprep? before or after the key is removed, before/after 
the machine is cloned, etc?

Thanks, I will check the permissions.

I tried a second round of testing with the key removed, but had the same
error I'm afraid.
