[THIN] Re: Class Action Suit on HP Laserjet models: 5L, 6L, 1 100 series, 3100, 3150

I love the 1100 printers. Much smaller footprint than the 1200. I will
miss it. Only about 1/2 the 1100's shipped have the problem listed in
the class action suit. The problem isn't so much jamming as
multi-feeding. My personal 1100 never jammed, but you do have to remove
about 2 blank pages for every printed one in the final stack.

The fix has been available for at least several months from HP, and
fixed mine right up. Does anyone know if the fix was released by HP on
their own, or prompted by the lawsuit. I have always found HP to stand
behind their products and I would be dis-appointed if it took a lawsuit
to have them correct the issue...

I got my fix kit, about 2 months ago, and just received the Lawsuit
email today in my personal email account (not from this list). It
smacks of money grubbing trial lawyers to me, so I'd kinda like to know
if the suit prompted HP to correct the issue, or if they did it on their
own.

The orignal two (the ones with the problem) of my five were purchased in
May 1999. One started acting up and was repaired in Oct 2001 and again
in Jan 2002. The other started jamming this past May. The one that was
repaired get heavier use than the others. So in my case it looks like we
get 2.5 to 3 years out of one depending on usage.
