Oh I can work the roter just fine. It’s the part where you have to select the text that gets me. You’re supposed to start with two fingers close together and move them slowly away from each other and it’s supposed to speak the words you are selecting. Doesn’t work for me! Oh well, I’m remembering how it was to learn the IPhone for the first time. Sue neumann now has one and she can’t swipe up or down with one finger to delete a message. And, now with IOS 8 that’s the only way you can delete a message. I loved it when I could go into edit mode, and swipe left on a message and the delete button would appear. that doesnt happen any more. Why do they have to change things like that, all the time? I say if it works, don’t fix it. too bad Apple doesn’t get it. so anyway, I just told her to work at it and someday it’ll work for her. there’s so many things you hav to swipe with one finger for, on the IPhone. She’s left handed too, but really that shouldn’t make a difference. so, if someone knows how to suggest how to teach her to delete a message that doesn’t involve swiping down, either call her on her home phone, or let me know so I can tell her. Yeah, she even had the home phone ported over to the cell phone, so she must like it. Don't feel bad Vikie; I've never gotten the rotor to work for me either. I have never got that function to work. maybe these others will. Sometimes I’d like to take things off my grocery list. Oh well, thanks for the info. I’ll try these methods. I hope to some day get the hadley method to work as well. that instructor is blind and so it should work for me too. i thought you had to select the text by moving fingers in and out then doing the roter thing. Maybe its the other way around. You guys tell us what works for you. vickie From: Richard McKinley Sent: Sunday, March 01, 2015 9:39 AM To: The Facts Machine Subject: [the-facts-machine] Got these tips from facebook. I got this post from Facebook copying text with the iPhone. Taylor Brown commented: While "use the rotor" is my advice as well, you can copy text in 3 ways. You can use 3 fingers to tap 4 times fast to copy the last thing VO said. You can, in a text field, turn the rotor to edit, flick up to select all, flick up to copy, and it'll be copied. The last way is much more specific and takes practice. In a text field, set your rotor to words, get it just before what you want to copy, and place both thumbs on screen. To select word by word, pull your thumbs apart. Push them together if you over-select. Then turn the rotor to edit, flick up to copy, and double tap., 2 hours ago, 0 likes
