Do you have questions about TRICARE For Life <https://www.tricare.mil/tfl>
(TFL)? Not sure if you're eligible for TFL, or how TFL coverage works? Join
the "What is TRICARE For Life?
<https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/5636983219096240907> " webinar on
Aug. 20, from 1 to 2 p.m. ET to get your TFL questions answered.
The webinar will discuss TFL eligibility
<https://tricare.mil/CoveredServices/BenefitUpdates/Archives/01_28_20_How_TR
ICARE_For_Life_Eligibility_Enrollment_Works> , how TFL and Medicare
<https://www.medicare.gov/> work together, TFL costs, and much more. Anne
Breslin, the TRICARE For Life program manager at the Defense Health Agency
will present and lead a Q&A after the presentation.
TFL is Medicare-wraparound coverage for TRICARE beneficiaries who are
entitled to Medicare Part A
<https://www.medicare.gov/your-medicare-costs/part-a-costs> and have
Medicare Part B <https://www.medicare.gov/your-medicare-costs/part-b-costs>
. Once you're entitled to Medicare Part A, have Part B, and show as eligible
in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System
<https://www.tricare.mil/deers> (DEERS), you automatically receive TRICARE
benefits under TFL.
"To make sure you don't have a break in your TRICARE coverage, it's
important to keep your information up to date in DEERS," said Breslin. "You
should also sign up for Medicare when you're first eligible to do so. Taking
both of these steps will help ensure that you get your TFL benefits on
time."
As described in the TRICARE and Medicare Turning Age 65 Brochure
<https://www.tricare.mil/publications> , your birth date determines when you
become Medicare-eligible based on age and when you should sign up for
Medicare Part A and Part B. See examples below:
* If your birthday falls after the first day of the month, you become
eligible for Medicare on the first day of the month you turn age 65. You can
sign up for Medicare between one and three months before the month you turn
65 years old.
* If your birthday falls on the first day of the month, you become
eligible for Medicare on the first day of the month before you turn age 65.
You can sign up for Medicare between two and four months before the month
you turn 65 years old.
You may be under 65 years old and become eligible for Medicare due to a
disability <https://www.tricare.mil/medicare> , end-stage renal disease, or
Lou Gehrig's disease. Check out the TRICARE and Medicare Under Age 65
Brochure <https://www.tricare.mil/publications> to learn more.
