[texbirds] Tyler SP 11-8-14

Howdy All!
It was a very birdy morning for the bird tour today. It was a unusually slow 
down by the Beaver Pond where we able to get Swamp Sparrow and Winter Wren. The 
action was at the Blackjack Nature trail and the bicycle trailhead parking 
area. We had Lincoln's Sparrow, Hairy Woodpecker, lots of Brown-headed 
Nuthatches and Cedar Waxwings. There were also good numbers of American 
Goldfinch and Pine Siskins. The somewhat unexpected bird there was a pair of 
Purple Finch.

We were able to pick up all seven species of woodpecker for the park too. The 
toughest find was the Red-headed Woodpecker. We were able to get that down the 
Old Road Trail.

Later, while looking for a lost kid, I walked up on a small flock of Wood Duck 
in the wet area below the dam. Yes the kiddo was found safe and sound.
