Texbirds,
Although they were first detected this year by Brian Gibbons and company on
9 April, the pair of Tropical Kingbirds at Chalk Bluff River Park had gone
unreported for the last couple of weeks. Well, they're still there as of
yesterday and can be found in the Pecan Bottoms and on the adjacent
(wooded) gravel bar on the Nueces River. It seems as though they have been
returning to the park annually to nest since about 2015, though there are a
few gaps in the intervening years.
The adult male Buff-bellied Hummingbird also continues at a private
residence in Montell. It's a possible returnee from July-August 2023 and
has been back for about a week now.
