Hi all - I arrived back home from seeing the FLOW at SPI, and as I was unloading the car, a really large, dark bird sailed by, heading NW towards Hazel Bazemore Park. I grabbed the binocular, and yup, it was a Bald Eagle! A Hatching-Year bird - all dark-bodied with the white in the wingpits. Sweet! After the Texans started to self-destruct in New England, I went outside to finish the fence for the planned 2013 vegetable garden. I was outside for no more than 5 minutes when I heard Snow Geese calling (one yelp, instead of the two yelps for Speckle-bellies). I had to dash into the house, grab the binocular again, and got back outside in time to see that the "dark one" was in fact a Blue Goose (bummer) but there were two Ross's Geese in the flock, too! Woo hoo! Add another three species, so that should bring me to 121. OK, now everybody gets a chance to catch up, as I will only be home for three out of the next 14 days. I'll be watching you catch me, Kyle and Dan, while I plot my strategy for the last three days of January!
