All: Birding walks are now scheduled July 13-14th during the open weekend at the TNC Davis Mountains Preserve. Saturday's walk will be moderate and flat, mostly on the Madera Canyon Road. We'll walk about 2 miles in all, starting after a drive up the canyon to Wolf Den Trailhead. Please be at the education center (inside the main gate and down the hill) a little before 7:00 AM so we can sign in and carpool to the parking area. This will be a good introduction to the preserve and at 6200 feet, the morning will be cool and pleasant. Sunday, if enough birders are interested, I'm planning a strenuous, half day hike up Bridge Gap Rd. to the Chute Trail, then switchbacking to the small aspen grove at around 8100 feet. We'll take it SLOW as we bird, gaining nearly 2000 feet in a little over 2 miles. The forest at 8000 feet is really special! We do have other options for Sunday birding, though- meet again at 7:00 at the ed center and we'll decide what to do. For more information and directions, google TNC Davis Mountains Preserve and bring up the 2013 schedule. See you there...
