We appear to be having a bit of a Short-eared Owl invasion this year.
Andrew Kasner flushed 2 from the roadside near Lockney (Floyd County) on
his way to the count and Rich Kostecke and I flushed one from the roadside
near the intersection of FM 651 and FM 40 (Crosby County) on the way back
home. This is in addition to the four seen in the count circle - none of
which were at the historical roost sites as we could not reach the
historical roost sites due to poor road conditions.
Observers were Jim Crites, Anthony Hewetson, Ellen Hildebrandt, Andrew
Kasner, Peter Keyel (PKe), Phillip Kite (PKi), Rich Kostecke, and Rob Lee.
