The Black-throated Gray Warbler has been visible this morning and is still best found in the parking island area just past where the maintenance road splits off from the exit road. One, possibly two Northern Waterthrush were seen from the Ebony Trail Boardwalk this morning. In the same area several Carolina Wrens were belting out their song, with a single House Wren doing its utmost to drown out the song of the bird in the photo. The eBird list from Saturday's bird walk is below this morning's list. It includes Bewick's Wren, Common Ground Dove, Common Yellowthroat, and a greater variety of water birds as well as an Eastern Screech Owl. https://picasaweb.google.com/102513301549844753448/BlackThroatedGrayWarblerCarolinaWren?authuser=0&feat=directlink -- Sherry Wilson Resident Park Host Resaca de la Palma State Park 1000 New Carmen Road Brownsville, TX 78521 956-350-2920 Bird Walks every Saturday - 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Butterfly Walks every Sunday - 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Night Hikes every Friday (must RSVP by 5:00 p.m. Thurs) - small fee Nature Tram Rides - Wednesday thru Sunday (Visitor Center closed Mon/Tues) http://www.facebook.com/resacadelapalma DIRECTIONS: The main entrance to Resaca de la Palma State Park is located on New Carmen Blvd. From Expressway 77/83, exit at Olmito, take FM 1732, follow for 2.5 miles; turn left at New Carmen Road; follow for 1.5 miles; shortly after the gravel hump in the road, turn left to enter the park. *Learn how you can help Texas State Parks:* http://bit.ly/sVdilb Jan 27, 2013 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM Protocol: Traveling 0.6 mile(s) 28 species American Wigeon 1 Northern Shoveler 3 Plain Chachalaca 1 Turkey Vulture 8 Red-shouldered Hawk 1 Inca Dove 3 White-tipped Dove 6 Golden-fronted Woodpecker 3 Eastern Phoebe 2 Great Kiskadee 9 White-eyed Vireo 2 Green Jay 47 Cave Swallow 2 House Wren 2 Carolina Wren 4 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 3 Ruby-crowned Kinglet 2 Northern Mockingbird 1 Long-billed Thrasher 1 Northern Waterthrush 1 Orange-crowned Warbler 4 Yellow-rumped Warbler 6 Black-throated Gray Warbler 1 Olive Sparrow 2 Northern Cardinal 7 Red-winged Blackbird 2 Great-tailed Grackle 1 Altamira Oriole 1 January 6, 2013 34 species Gadwall 25 American Wigeon 4 Northern Shoveler 15 Bufflehead 1 Least Grebe 3 Pied-billed Grebe 5 Great Blue Heron 1 Turkey Vulture 4 American Coot 6 Inca Dove 7 Common Ground-Dove 1 White-tipped Dove 4 Eastern Screech-Owl 1 Golden-fronted Woodpecker 2 Eastern Phoebe 3 Great Kiskadee 14 White-eyed Vireo 6 Green Jay 29 Black-crested Titmouse 7 House Wren 1 Bewick's Wren 1 Carolina Wren 3 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 3 Ruby-crowned Kinglet 2 Northern Mockingbird 1 Long-billed Thrasher 2 Orange-crowned Warbler 3 Common Yellowthroat 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler 14 Olive Sparrow 3 Northern Cardinal 4 Red-winged Blackbird 3 Great-tailed Grackle 2 Altamira Oriole 2 Edit your Freelists account settings for TEXBIRDS at //www.freelists.org/list/texbirds Reposting of traffic from TEXBIRDS is prohibited without seeking permission from the List Owner
