Such a birdy day yesterday. First there were around 7000 avocets plus 2-3,000
other birds on Bolivar Flats and they were busy feeding all day. Great Egrets
and White Ibis were coming in off the gulf all day. I did see 2 flocks of Snowy
Egrets and several Tricolored Herons also. There are rafts of scaup off High
Island and warblers, vireos and hummingbirds in the woods.

Great Egrets are displaying in Smith Oaks Claybottom Pond Rookery and the water
is rising in the pond as the pump pumps it up from Smith Pond. Sure wish some
of the rain around yesterday had made it to the coast.
