Did east beach early but the water was very high and not so many birds but
many birds of prey.
Came back after lunch and some terns started giving the odd alarm call they
give when harassed by the jaeger. Saw a brown thing chasing a tern carrying
a fish but in the binoculars it turned into a herring gull.
Then a larger black and white bird showed up making 3 in the chase. Took a
bit to register that this is not the jaeger and then a little more to say
booby and then to say you should take a picture.
In that segue I took my eyes off the group and never saw anybody suspicious
sitting or flying. Never saw it before either.
Not a full adult but black and white with some not black feathers where the
whole wing stripe should be and some black elsewhere. Not enough time to
really study it before it vanished.
Jaeger not sitting around in am or pm but started to fly in from up the bay
with some gulls but I got a herring gull picture so cannot say if the
primaries are improving.
