As
 the dates approach, I have heard from a few more people and figured it 
was time for yet another update.  If you have been following regional 
birding on the internet you will have realized that it is shaping up to 
be a better winter this year, with a wider variety of birds about 
(including a fuller suite of waterbirds as well as more in the way of 
irruptives) and this year's CBCs could be the best, in terms of oddball 
sightings, we have had in quite some time. I am really hoping to get a 
few more participants on each count; particularly on the Lubbock County 
CBC (where I have far too many one person teams) and on the White River Lake
 CBC (where I have far too many one person teams).

LUBBOCK COUNTY CBC -  Saturday, 15 December 2012.  We meet with team leaders at 
an agreed upon location, bird from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and will then meet at my 
place for a potluck supper and countdown at 5:00 PM - the countdown to start at 
6:00 PM if humanly possible.  To do this count well, I need eight team leaders 
and at least twenty counters.  I currently have just enough leaders and STILL 
NEED AT LEAST FIVE MORE COUNTERS..
Team One: Ransom Lake and Northeast - Charles Grair
Team Two: City Farms and North Central - Anthony Hewetson
Team Three: V8 Ranch and Buffalo Springs Lake - Cameron Carver, Craig Carver, 
Steve Collins (AM)
Team Four:  Northwest - Rob Lee
Team Five: Canyon Lakes - Phillip Kite, Steve Collins (PM)
Team Six: South Central - Manuel De Leon
Team Seven: In-town Playas/Parks East - Aveline Hewetson, William Wenthe
Team Eight: In-town Playas/Parks West - Susan Bergeson, Jeanne Davis, Tess Trost

MULESHOE NWR CBC - Sunday, 16 December 2012.  We meet at refuge headquarters at 
7:30 AM, bird from then until roughly noon or so (it is an area restricted 
count and does not take terribly long to cover), and meet back at 
headquarters for a potluck lunch (often leftovers from the potluck the evening 
before; stews and chili and such) and countdown.  To do 
this count well I need four team leaders and at least ten counters.  I 
currently have four leaders and could always use more counters.
Team One: Paul's Lakes and Eastern Refuge - Anthony Hewetson, Aveline Hewetson
Team Two: Northern Refuge - Phillip Kite, Manuel De Leon, Rob Lee
Team Three: Goose Lakes and Rim - Cameron Carver, Craig Carver, Steve Collins
Team Four: White Lakes and Headquarters - Susan Bergeson, Jim Crites, Dana

WHITE RIVER LAKE CBC - Saturday, 29 December 2012.  We meet at the White River 
Lake Marina at 7:30 AM, bird from then until around 5:00 PM, and meet back at 
the marina for a hot dinner at the 
diner; countdown to start at 6:00 PM so that we can get out of the 
restaurant in a timely fashion.  To do this count well, I need five team 
leaders and at least twelve counters.  I currently have five leaders 
and NEED AT LEAST THREE MORE COUNTERS..
Team One: The Great North Woods - Rich Kostecke
Team Two: East and Southeast - Anthony Hewetson, Aveline Hewetson
Team Three: East Lake - Rob Lee
Team Four: West Lake - Susan Bergeson, Jim Bertrand
Team Five: Southwest and West - Phillip Kite

There will be no CBC fees this year - but there is a lake fee at the White 
River Lake CBC; for those who are on the lake teams.
