The long-tailed duck was a no-show at Sea Center Texas today. The flock of lesser scaups (over 70) were present in a different pond, but the long-tailed duck never showed. In the previous days if you saw this flock, the long-tailed duck was with them. It would fly away with them when spooked, and return with them. If it shows up later we will try to repeat a public visit. The least grebe was present today (at the very end of the boardwalk) in the freshwater-brackish wetlands open to the public daily. Also a late Pectoral Sandpiper was seen along with a Wilson's Snipe among a group of yellowlegs, stilt sandpipers, least sandpipers, and white ibis.
