I was kept from joining Don Schaezler and the Canyon Lake CBC this morning when I discovered a nail in a tire last evening. Had to get that fixed this morning, and so took advantage of the chill, fog, and mist keeping attendance at some of the parks in my patch down to bird several spots that could be covered in relatively quick stops ranging from 15 to about 45 minutes. The spots were Bull Creek Park, City Park (just the lake picnic area, the trail parking was all full and there were many people with dogs so didn't bother), Lady Bird Lake near Lou Neff Point, and the Mueller Pond. Totaled 54 species and added several to my patch list to get me up to 82 for the year in my patch (I'm counting if it's listed in iBird Pro). The nicest surprises were a lone male Redhead on LBL and a singing Western Meadowlark at City Park (others were silent so who knows), and some titmice out there that I am convinced really are black-crested. Had scrub jay and canyon wren at Bull Creek. I didn't really expect the CAWR that close in, though I have seen the SCJA in fairly close over the years. Here's the full list.
