Howdy Texbirders, Lafitte's was good this morning, but not quite as active as the past two days. The Cerulean was the star of the morning with great looks as it visited one of the water features. Jenni and I got brief glimpses of what was a probable Swainson's Wabler. That species had been seen earlier in the morning and the bird we saw was in the area that John Tharp saw it yesterday. Not good enough looks for me to count it. The "migrants" were: Ruby-throated Hummingbird Great Crested Flycatcher White-throated Vireo Yellow-throated Vireo Blue-headed Vireo Red-eyed Vireo Northern Rough-winged Swallow Cliff Swallow Tree Swallow Barn Swallow Ruby-crowned Kinglet Blue-gray Gnatcatcher Blue-winged Warbler Tennessee Warbler Orange-crowned Warbler Northern Parula Yellow-rumped Warbler (both subspecies) Black-and-white Warbler Cerulean Warbler Blackburnian Warbler Yellow-throated Warbler Hooded Warbler Worm-eating Warbler Common Yellowthroat Summer Tanager Scarlet Tanager Blue Grosbeak Indigo Bunting Orchard Oriole Baltimore Oriole Gray-capped Rosy-finch (nope...just seeing if you were paying attention...) Farther down toward San Luis we had Eastern Kingbirds, Summer Tanagers, and more Orchard Orioles. A very nice morning. Good birding Dennis West Houston Harris County W.
