I didn't get long to bird in Pecos County this afternoon but spent some time in Iraan (pronounced Ira-Anne). The best birds were a female Phainopepla in town (photographed), a Golden-fronted Woodpecker, American Wigeon (also at the golf course pond ) and Vermilion Flycatcher at Iraan Park, and American Robin, Wilson's Snipe, Lincoln's Sparrow, and Belted Kingfisher at the sewage ponds behind the Memorial Garden Cemetery. After a day and a half of birding, we ended up with 70 species in Pecos County. Not bad for such a dry place that seems largely devoid of birds life away from a few hot spots with water. -- Jay Packer (sent from my phone) Edit your Freelists account settings for TEXBIRDS at //www.freelists.org/list/texbirds Reposting of traffic from TEXBIRDS is prohibited without seeking permission from the List Owner
