The gull show at Brunswick Lake in my neighborhood continues to be
good. Today I had 5 species in about and hour there and gulls
continued to come in steadily.
I had
Laughing (600)
Franklin's (1)
Ring-billed (26)
Herring (23)
Lesser Black-backed (2)
Also 1 Osprey and 1 Bald Eagle flyover.
In all I had 22 species. see the checklist with photos at

the maps for the location on the checklist will show you were the lake is
the best time for the gulls seems to be between about 1:30 and 2 pm.
The gulls start to stream in mostly from the southeast about 7:15 and
begin to leave in the same direction about 3:30 and most will be gone
by 5 pm. The seem to stream in and out all day to the southwest is a
direct bearing to a landfill on Almeda Rd and FM518. The southeast is
a pretty staight line to San Leon/Baycliff area and the bay.
If you go to the parking lot for the playground at the north side of
the lake you'll see signs saying resident only and escorted guests
only. If you want to see the gulls I would park on the Mega Energy
Drive on the southeast side and walk down the south side of the pond.
They playground park is owned by the HOA but the pond is another owner
and not posted. I think the light is better on the south generally
anyway and I don't think anyone will care if you are there.
