Hi Texbirders,
We started by heading out to Pintail Lakes and we never made it anywhere
else. We spent a little extra time following up on a reported Ringed
Kingfisher at the river overlook ... a special thing as they have been in
short supply this year. Though we did not relocate it, we were rewarded in
other ways, including White-tailed Hawks, Harris's Hawks, a young Gray
Hawk, a Northern Harrier and a flock of circling White Pelicans. We did
have at least three different Green Kingfishers and two Belted Kingfishers.
Right at the end of the walk, as we strolled behind the Visitor Center, we
heard and saw a Northern Beardless Tyrannulet and everyone commented on
what a perfect way to end the walk that was. And then... drum roll, please
... the Tropical Parula showed up too. Woo hoo!
Guided bird walks leave from the Visitor Center at 8:30 am every day. We
