*Hornsby Bend Tree Management Update*
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has approved the tree
management plan we presented at the informational meeting last August at
the Hornsby Bend CER auditorium. We are currently drafting the
specifications to find a suitable contractor to do the work. The bulk of
the work to remove dead and dying trees from the berms will begin this
fall.
In the meantime, we will be doing some minor work in advance of the nesting
season. Beginning Monday, January 11, our contractor will begin clearing
small brush, debris and cutting dead trees off at the stump on the north
and east sides of Pond 2. On the east side of Pond 2 work will only take
place on the water sideâtrees on the land side of the pond will not be
affected. The attached photo shows the affected areas.
The work will take about two weeks. If you visit Hornsby during this time,
please be aware of the work areas. When crews are working, sections of the
pond roads will be temporarily closed for visitor safety. If you have any
questions or concerns, please let me know.
