I birded Choke Canyon State Park today with an emphasis on shorebirds. I parked my vehicle in the parking lot close to 75 Acre Lake (Calliham Unit) and walked to the lakeshore south of the picnic area. It was definitely a long trudge which I'm guessing is at least two miles before getting to the lakeshore and good shorebird habitat. It was worth the death march with a nice assortment of migrating shorebirds and other birds. I also checked the Southshore Unit after lunch.
