Completely forgot to say we found a Glossy Ibis at ANWR today. Go down the
first side of Shoveler Pond and at the end where the road turns South there
is a spot where a dirt road joins the pond road. You can park there and
walk into the area where the field is flooded over to the right. There was
one Glossy Ibis and a few other White-faced and White Ibis there.

Jan and I ran down to Smith Oaks in High Island today to see how many
birds
were nesting already. There are quite a few Great Egrets already on nests
and others building nests. Lots of Roseatte Spoonbills already there but
not really nesting yet as well as a few Neotropic Cormorants.

Left and ran to Anahuac National WR to look for the Ruff that was there
last week. Found the area completely covered with water from the heavy
rains
2-3 days ago. The area West of Shoveler Pond was mostly so deep there
were
no yellowlegs of either species around. Drove around a little and found
no
groups of waders anywhere that the Ruff might be hanging with. Did not
make
it to Skillern Tract.
