I am on my second pair of XR 8x42 waterproof binoculars from REI ( first pair
stolen). They work well, with clear, sharp images, no edge distortion, and very
close focus ability. Coated lenses, roof prism, $179. Really good value.

My wife and I both have Nikon Monarchs 8X42's and love them. They also
come in 10X42's. They are a bit more than $200 but have great color,
eye relief and are fairly light.

Talk to the sales people. I have always found their advice to be superb and
objective. If you were looking at the Audubon Equinox series, they are
good value.

Hello all!
I was looking for a pretty nice pair of binoculars in the $100-$200 price
range. I was on eagle optics the other day and found a pair or two that
interested me, but I didn't want to buy them and end up not liking them!
Any input would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
