I don't have the report ready yet but I thought I should get this
information out this morning. We had about 57 species for the day. Yesterday we
had
a couple of good birds for Harris County one Nelson's Sparrow and two
Groove-billed Ani's.
The Nelson's was in the grass on the right where you turn left to go to the
observation Mound or the Butterfly garden at the "Y" in the road. It was
not actually in marsh grass which made us think it was moving from one area
to another marsh area. Chuck Davis and I both saw it as we were easing
along going to turn towards the butterfly garden. I was between the two new
pieces of marsh created on the Burnett Bay side of the road. There were also
many Marsh Wrens in there as well.
The two Groove-billed Ani's were right off Tracey's boardwalk toward the
bay. Go like your going to the observation mound and where you would turn
left to go into that parking lot park right there at the corner and walk down
the road behind the closed gate. Just after crossing the concrete bridge
there is a board walk to the right. Both of the Ani's were out past the end
of the boardwalk towards the bay.
