I hit this same change myself yesterday when compiling the LRGV RBA; it seems we eBird editors with search capability data users were crashing eBird with too many searches at the county level. I find Eric's solution and the use of the county level alerts and "view" to fit my needs, though it might help if there was a month-long alert horizon for Tony's purpose. I'd rather have eBird more stable and have to learn to use these other tools, as I think the guys at eBird are right - we can get what we need in other ways. The data is still there, and it's still accessible to all. We just need to access it in a way that doesn't crash the system. Here's the eBird summary of all the birds seen in the current Fall reporting period in the 15 counties surrounding Lubbock County: http://tinyurl.com/lw7hnbn At any point, you can drill into the "Map" button next to any species you choose to see the specific sightings/details. Yes, there's a limit of 15 counties, but you could easily create bookmarks for subgroupings of counties if you are interested in more than 15 counties (ie., the entire Panhandle). You can also adjust the time period to be just a single month if you find that useful, or have it span multiple years if you'd like. And I can get all this without even signing into eBird. -- Eric Carpenter eBird reviewer and frequent user of its data Austin On Fri, Dec 12, 2014 at 10:07 AM, Anthony Hewetson <fattonybirds@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Greetings All: > Due to recent changes implemented by eBird I can no longer acquire, in a > timely fashion, monthly summaries of my region for inclusion of records in > either the Llano Estacado Audubon Society newsletter or American Birds. > This move on the part of e-birds was necessary as requests for such data > summaries were, evidently, crashing their system.
