Russ, It's because you have a good history with your bank, the customer doesn't. It also depends on how much over the balance you are. The few times I bounced a check, I called the bank, played stupid by having them go over the transactions. Then they look at my history and reverse the NSF charge for me. Now I have O/D protection.
