Not all projo's are alike.  About three years ago I replaced a tube in a Zenith 
and the replacement came with a clear jell pad about 3/16" thick with 
protective paper that you remove and place on the face of the tube. It went 
between the lens and the face of the tube.  No coolant was used.  I haven't 
seen this set up on any other brands or any since.
