It sounds like there are one or more caps in the power supply that are
failing or have high ESR.  I've had 3 JVC HR-S6700/5800U VCR's that
would get a very dim display when turned off.  Fix was 120 uF cap in
P/S. HTH

Jeff,
The only cable off the front panel is for activating functions, ie.
play,
rewind, etc. The display is connected directly to the main board. I sure
could use a service manual for this problem. Customer picked up VCR, I
told
them I would get back to them on the display problem. Thanks.
