Yes Al, thank you very much. It is the vertical I.C. I unsoldered the I.C 
and checked the screen and the vertical deflection was collapsed but very 
bright.  I had a NTE 1788 which is a cross for the vertical output and it 
works.
I still have no audio(may have caused this myself) but will trouble shoot 
that circuit tomorrow. Thanks a million . Now I am sorry I did not check the 
voltages at the vertical output.
