It doesnt take much corrosion on a contact to block low level signals. It
seems like the Made in China camcorders have much more of this problem than
the Made in Japan camcorders did. I use a Cramolin filled fiberglass tip pen
if I want to clean and inhibit corrosion, but usually the wiping action of
reseating the cable does the job.
