First, when powered on one snap heard. Followed it to the red CRT anode cap: arcing to frame.Fluid contamination around cap.Removed tube and anode wire, scraped anode area clean and chemical cleaned.Repl. cap/anode wire, siliconed and cured overnight.Installed CRT,powered up and heard HOT short. For prevention, did the scan caps and assoc.diodes around, and orig. HOT.Did the "power supply kit"(caps and IC). Powered up,HOT went again (at $12.00 each). After jerking around a half hour, we found with all three yokes in ckt, just the red tube's CRT board and anode wire removed the set powered up and stayed up. Appears the red CRT took a beating from the arc. Does this confirm a shorted red CRT? Phil Bader -- Philip Bader Jan Phyl TV Inc. (estab. 1976) 3420 Recker Hwy.
