My experience being that they generally work better. Even more so in HOT applications. I have even found some generic parts not to work at all in certain applications to the point that you will swear them off for a while. After of course you waste more time repairing the repair you made. A certain CTC169 comes to mind in which I literally had the unit repaired but for the generic part which would not do the job. I even tried a better generic transistor, still no go.......
