John,
From Tech Repair CD:
RCA\CTC188A PTK188AB\The set chirps three times then nothing\\\\Shorted Q4101
and replaced it along with
the B+ regulator kit (231472)* Q4109* CR4101\Still shuts down..bad splitter
205064\\\\\\\

I would replace these parts, no matter what, if they are original.
CR4118 is another one.
Check for shorted audio outputs by disconnecting the plugs to the audio board,
if set stays on, one of the
IC's are bad.

Subject: [TechAssist] Proscan PTK188, turns off/on a few times then ok

Stays on long enough to get a picture then turns off, turns back on,
stays on till picture comes on then turns off. This may repeat nine or
ten times till it stays on. HV splitter block has been replaced, xray
pin on T-chip checks ok. Swapped out the micro, no change. Any ideas?
Thanks,
