Hi Ken,
Sorry I wasn't more specific in my original answer. I haven't done one
of
these in awhile. Yeah I guess it would have helped to tell you the location
and size of the "module" and cap values. Well glad you found it anyway.

FIXED!!

Friends,

I finally got this one fixed. Found many marginal caps, but none
affected the symptoms I listed. Jerry mentioned "bad caps in the I.F.
circuit that was on its own circuit board off the motherboard, " and
Winstips listed "C22 & C26, 0.47ufd, 50V." Both were right, but it took
me a long time to put it together. There are many "C22's" on the signal
pcb. The IF module sits directly behind the tuner. Looks like the IF
module used in Sony's that cause so much trouble.

Final solution: C22 & C26 in the IF module AXF1062-A, both caps .47@50.
Both caps measured very high ESR and low capacitance.

Hope this helps.

Jerry,

Thanks for the suggestion. This set was mfg. Oct. 1993. Will check that
out tomorrow (Monday).

It's a shame that for such a fine set as Pioneer is, there are so many
problems with solder connections and the service manuals are cost
prohibitive unless you do a lot of that brand. We do a lot of Hitachi,
RCA, and Magnavox--perhaps 20 of those brands (combined) to each Pioneer.

Thanks for your help. Hope your teams win today!
