I was working on the same one yesterday. It IS a 20 volt zener. =20
Replacing it restored power supply,but alas, VCR is also screwed, =20
gears are  out of sync, and I have no idea where the Mode switch =20
should be in the eject mode.
She wanted to spend next to nothing on it, so looks like I have gone =20
too far already.
