First, I am a TV tech not a PC tech so bear with me please. I fell heir to this 667 MHz celeron PC,Windows ME. ("peoples PC" tag on front) Will not boot. Previous user said someone said bad hard drive. When I power it up: 1. Turns on, "IBM" logo appears across screen. 2.message: "Boot failure, insert boot disk in drive A. (I insert the orig. looking IBM recov. diskette given me, "A" drive starts working.) 3. "Starting Windows 98" (note that the front tag says Windows ME) goes on to say: "diskette will attempt to repair the IBM product. 4. "Recovery program on hard disk.Press any key to continue." (I do) 5. "Your machine will reboot in 5 seconds to complete the repair." 6. "Failed to get disk parameters. The IBM product recovery program could not be found on your hard disk.Contact IBM personal system help center for an IBM recovery CD." End of story. Any help appreciated. Yhis would be a nice extra PC for the shop. Bad HDD? Corrupted files? Someone put W98 over the OS? Phil Bader -- Philip Bader Jan Phyl TV Inc. (estab. 1976) 3420 Recker Hwy.
