The key is to NOT get oils on your hands onto the lamp itself....the reflector won't be damaged by your hand, but I would suggest latex as a minimum level of protection....The cotton white gloves were extensively shipped along with the EIKI lamps back in the 80's. They were kinda like a muslin cloth(?) Open weave on them, just enough material to isolate your oily hands from the Bulb. Use toilet paper! ;-) Damon B Telrad Electronics Fort Wayne IN ----- Original Message ----- From: "Moutons Electronics L.L.C." <moutons@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, February 10, 2006 11:01 AM Subject: [TechAssist] HD61lpw42yx1 bad lamp > Good morning everyone, > I have to change the lamp in this dlp and the RCA original is not in stock at my distributor but they have a sub that is the original lamp from what I can tell, but not in a cage. It is a lamp only. I remember in a RCA school on this chassis that we shouldn't physically touch the lamp bulb itself so I was wondering what kind of gloves should be used to put a new lamp in the old cage. I was thinking of latex gloves but another tech here seems to remember something about cloth gloves for a similar job back in the day. > > Is there a industry acceptable way to do it so the lamp doesn't destroy itself? > > Thanks in advance > > Jason > Moutons Electronics > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- > This Email List is accessible to the general public through search engines.
