[TechAssist] Fw: Marantz 2235 What does "CD Direct" do?

Hi, I know I should know this, but I'm stumped.
This amp is working normaly, but I cannot figure what the CD direct is
supposed to do.
I assumed it was a straight through shot for anything hooked to the CD
inputs, but it doesn't work that way.
Any ideas?
