A couple of years ago we had a plague of various models of Funai combos that
would intermittantly, sometimes right away, pop the overvoltage protection
zeners. Always turned out to be a cracked solder joint on the emitter of the
transistor that drives the feedback opto (Q604 I think), and that transistor
was always
located just over a pcb support so you cant see it without removing the
frame.
