This is a follow-up on a post for a Panasonic PV840F VCR....
Unit came in with blown fuse.
 A serious lesson was learned.
Under testing would blow fuse as soon as power cord was plugged in.
Checked all components in power supply ...
Q1= C4533 Regulator  shorted....replaced with NTE2339
Q2 = D1458 also...replaced with NTE16006..
D1003,D1002,D1005,D1006, D1007, D1008all replaced.
C1004 = 82uf/200v along with C1005 4.7uf/200v.....checked with CapWizard..and a
ECG
Cap Meter CX-920A..both showed them to be good.
After replacing all components...fuse blew again....along with having to
replace both
Q1 & Q2....and D1008.
Fix ....
Removed both C1004 and C1005...using my Fluke Multi-meter ran resistance
test....
C1004 =82uf read 2.4meg ohm
C1005 4.7uf was weak on reading that would constantly increase....
Replaced both Cap's and Q1-Q2-D1008
Unit powered-up and had no other problems.
Closing ..all I have to say is I will do a double test of Cap's from now on and
not
rely on any Cap tester alone.
