Thanks to Eric, and Dave Huston, for both sending me the SAMs pdf. manual on
this set.
I was able to trace the problem to the ABL line, where I found Q204 (SMD)
had been scrapped from the bottom of the P.C. board. It was only hanging by
a thread. Apparently the set must have been in another shop prior to
bringing it to me, cause that's the only way it could have beem damaged
(IMO).
Q204 part number is 2SC2412, which was a SMD, and the traces were
missing,..so I replaced it by drilling a 3rd hole (2-holes were already
drilled), and mounted a regular T0-18 case type transistor from the top side
of board, and hard wired it from the bottom side. I used an old Zenith
transistor 121-447 that I had in stock for many years.
It crossed to an ECG123A, which had a higher current rating then the
original 2SC2412 SMD.
Comment:
This job required the skill of a Surgeons hands, and brains, to
complete,...but,....I didn't make $200-500 / hr. on this job.
