is the g2 voltage to the crt dropping?
If so when it goes dark remove crt board from crt and see if g2 volts comes
back up.
If it comes back up crt/picture tube is defective, if it doesn't then
possible bad flyback or leaky cap on g2 line
I have seen these caps usually .01mfd 2-3kv intermittently leaky and cause
your symptom on various makes
