Thanks to the replies to my post about no vertical deflection, this 1995
Philips tv is working again. Apparently C432 (100/250) failed causing R504
and R524 to overheat and crack solder. Somehow, this caused the vertical
deflection to malfunction causing the 24 volt fusible resistor R445 (1 ohm)
to open. I had already replaced the vertical IC (IC550, LA7838) so I dont
know if it was bad or not.
C432 checked OK on cap, leakage, and ESR, but the top was a little bulged
and it had been replaced before, so it got replaced again. I have seen
electrolytics that had shorted and recovered but they will short again.
