In other news, we had some pretty sweet weather. Rained a bit on Saturday night and there were lighting storms on friday/saturday. I tried to take some photos of the lightning, this one turned out pretty well.

Thanks everyone for the great launch!

We had a small crew and basically were running off Ron's pad and the RocketElectronics Wireless launcher. The manual is very clear about how to use the Wireless controller, if you don't read it - it will automatically launch rockets for you when you hook them up - a very dangerous unit as James, Mike, Aidan and others found out! But it is simple and a great device, we launched all the rockets off it.

The burners have really taken over the playa, we had some freak come out naked with his schlong hanging out and looking for his dog. Mike ran him off.

To add insult to injury we had another dragging an american flag on the playa and on top of that - on the 4th of July - Mike and I confronted him and were about to take his flag.

We had some other burner freaks who had dilated pupils and looked like they were on LSD and needed to be scared off.

We had the "Blackrock rangers" come over which is a group of people who collect the remnant "burners" off the playa after they have gone on wild safari and are lost and on the brink of death.

There is so much to write about, heck, I guess we should discuss it more
at the next launch!

See you all on the 18th!

I ran scalpel and found parts of the file -- the horror.

(ID2015) - Tripoli Central California - Blackrock
launch

The day started with me screwing up the site
coordinates (as corrected below) - we used the
Mudrock coordinates because the BALLS site was too
soft and further against the foothills

We flew about 6 HPR flights and then got beat down
by the heat and some showers and lightning storms;
it cleared up and tomorrow should be awesome -
Mike Smith is flying an MD L265 and I am flying an
MD N1000 both with precious electronic bays

At the end of the day, We went to Blackrock and
Mike Smith found a ruby!

More tomorrow!

BTW, we got knocked out completely in
September because of Burning Man :(

Anyhow, here are the dates, copy/paste

Hi Folks,

Got the first Blackrock NOTAM
issued today for Friday launch
(07/03/15)!
NOTAM is issued standing at
surface to 75K and will have
dial-in to 100K
access to 200K AGL' (Site B+) from 10am-12pm.

Get your rockets ready!

Hey Folks,

Launch details are on the
website.

The launch is really simple,
bring your rockets and launch
pad & equipment and I will run
the FAA waiver for you.

We will have a generator.

We will have Porta-potties if
someone will pick-up and
return the Portaportties in Reno.

I will be there along with our
other members. This is an
excellent chance to fly some
big stuff in God's gift to
Rocket launch sites -
Blackrock! If you've never
been to Blackrock, this is a
perfect chance to learn to
navigate and get around there.

You will only have to pay $20
for the whole weekend
including BLM permit ($15
donation to the club, $5 to BLM).

Best call Brunos if you have
no camping plans and book a
room now: (775) 557-2220
<tel:%28775%29%20557-2220>

We will have a LOT of fun and
meet at the launch site every
morning at 9AM till whenever!

Oh yes, rules - there are no
rules other than the golden
rule (do unto others) and be
in compliance with the Tripoli
safety code and local ordinances.

PS, We don't have generator
and light Nazis either so if
you want to crank your music and
party all night you can do
that too :-)

Thanks,
-James
