with your bus being a BAY window....  You have 4 way lights which makes it easier.

If you're talking about Item "J" on this diagram http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/wiring/baybus_6869a.jpg then you'll need to replace it
or rewire your turnsignal switch and get a generic flasher.

Subject: [tcb] blinker relay

is there an aftermarket relay that i could get at my FLAPS that would replace the factory 68-69 flasher relay on my bus???

evidently i was about a millimeter away from having an electric fire on top of the engine fire that day. there is a quarter size hole melted in the middle of the relay. the fuse was melted to the fuse panel as well. but i took care of that problem, no wire damage though, thank god.

evidently turning on the flashers when you have nothing but exposed wires in the back isn't a good idea, it can cause eletrical shorts.

so, is there an aftermarket relay out there? if so what's the part number? if not is it a common thing that my vw store might have?
