OK Denis; your lost me in there somewhere. You didn't mention doing anything to the cylinders. Where was the leak in the first place? --- On Sun, 9/25/11, Denis Dodson <coocoo@xxxxxxx> wrote: From: Denis Dodson <coocoo@xxxxxxx> Subject: [tcb] Re: Hey, ya'll! Brakes question To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Sunday, September 25, 2011, 9:07 PM I sprayed electric contact cleaner on them and used a MAPP gas torch on them and you really could see the fluid coming out. I put them back in and made sure the cylinder lines were not cross threaded, put the whole thing together and bled them and then pumped the hell out of them and took the wheel\drum off and no leaks! Then I test drove it and there is no pulling and the stopping is waaaay better. I will replenish my supply of shoes and cylinders and trade them out before T@P. om: tcb-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:tcb-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of wuzmop@xxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, September 25, 2011 8:44 PM To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [tcb] Re: Hey, ya'll! Brakes question I've burned mine clean before with carb cleaner. If nothing else, its a lot of fun, but if ya gotta go to the store anyway, might as well get new ones. Burn the others though, cause it really is fun. -----Original Message----- From: mike@xxxxxxxxxxxx To: tcb Sent: Sun, Sep 25, 2011 12:10 pm Subject: [tcb] Re: Hey, ya'll! Brakes question Damn not the brakes again! I have soaked them in brake clear before and it seamed to work. With your luck and to be on the safe side I'd replace them though. Are these brake cylinders you rebuilt before? I replaced mine before the Classic 2 years ago and it sat for 2 years and they still don't leak. On 9/25/2011 11:41 AM, Denis Dodson wrote: It’s Sunday. Brakes question My front driver’s side wheel is leaking brake fluid and I am going to find the leak today and re-build it. The shoes are covered in fluid, but are almost brand new. I want to re-use them. I have heard that, when soaked, they will never be good again. I am old enough to remember my Dad covering them with gas and lighting them on fire to “clean” them. Anybody know of that or any way to clean them dry?
