You guys are missing the most scenic stretch: FM roads 1623 and 1888 out of
Blanco. Seriously. The stretch of Hwy 290 between Johnson City and
Fredericksburg is boring. Hwy 290 is really pretty, especially right now,
between Brenham and Manor but that's it. Take a left on River Rd, FM 1623,
out of Blanco and make a left about four miles down the road onto 1888. You
won't be disappointed.
