*Our Meeting
*
Thank you for your interest in our meeting tomorrow. This time, we're
planning to have presentations from both Bill and Carmen, followed by my
continuing exploration of the the Tao Te Ching.

I also want to talk briefly about the Year of the Ox. Many Americans are not
aware of the deeper significance of this year in traditional Chinese
culture, so I hope to provide you some insights that you are not likely to
find anywhere else.

I have some questions for everyone to ponder based on the story about the
dolphin from our last meeting. Why does postive reinforcement
(encouragement) seem to work so much better than negative reinforcement
(punishment)? Aren't both equally present in the Tao? Does the philosophy of
the Tao have anything to say about that? Is it just an illusion? Do we have
to define what "better" means to even have a discussion?

I hope to see you tomorrow, either at the temple or online!
