Sorry, I'll make it clearer for you *smile*. If you want an unlimited package IE for downloading files, browsing the web etc without having to worry about the per megabyte cost, the price is £7.5 monthly. If you only want to use wayfinder on the odd occasion, you can pay for £2.35 per megabyte or part there of. I'm not an O2 customer as I've said before, this is what I've been told by someone I know who happens to work there.

I've just rung a contact I have at 02 who works in the
customer relations team and this is what I was told:
An unlimited 3G internet add-on will cost you £7.5 per
month on the pay and go sim regardless of tariff.  If you
only want to use wayfinder therefore, and only use it in
guide view when for example planning and following
routes, you can pay £2.35 per megabyte used.  If however
you want to use maps, for longer or more regular trips,
the £7.5 option would be your best bet.  I can confirm
that either of these options are the only two you have,
take it or leave it unless of course you want to go
contract which is entirely different.

However, this doesn't get me where I need to be and have
my first post answered.  Looks as though from replies
I'm going to have to go some kind of contract ... but
how can I be sure I'm going to get the full data
package? (Nobody seems to understand me, and that's not
too surprising since I hardly understand the stuff
myself ...)

You're better off with vodafone if I'm honest purely
from the point of view of coverage.

Well, it all depends on where you are, I for instance
get good outdoor coverage, but patchy indoor signal, but
then, having said that, I just use
the wireless indoors anyway so it hardly matters.

That's an extra hassle in life ... that I can do

I have been with O2 as a Pay as You Go customer and,
after speaking to five people, I have finally learned
that, well, according to the fifth anyway, I will have

go onto contract in order to have the necessary GPRS
support. If anyone else is using O2 with Wayfinder,
are you able to confirm that this is in fact correct?
I really wanted to stay with PAYG if possible but
maybe it isn't, so thought I'd just check out you
knowledgeable folk to see if anyone else knows
different.
