I think as you say it isn't very useful unless the phone is in your pocket.
I use a Bluetooth myself but I think she thinks the alternative ringtones
would be her best option but I think she might have to look for an
alternative such as a Bluetooth.

Has your friend also thought about using the vibrate option. I appreciate
that this is no good unless the phone is in your pocket, but it may help in
some situations.
